New Zealand’s Healthiest Schools Challenge 2018

AIA and Sovereign ran the NZ’s Healthiest Schools Challenge over a six-week period during Term Four, 2018 led by NZ sports legends Gemma McCaw and Cory Jane. It was a huge success with over 55,000 kids participating from over 500 primary and intermediate schools around the country. A huge thank you to over 2,000 teachers for making this possible for your students in the classroom and to the 2,000+ supporting friends, family and staff members for getting involved too.

Along the way, participants learnt a lot about health and wellbeing, like the importance of exercise, good nutrition, being sun smart, reducing screen time, improving sleep, and mental health. Making little changes in these areas can make a big difference in helping us to live healthier, longer, better lives.

And that’s not all, selected schools received special guest visits from Gemma McCaw, Cory Jane and 2 Tottenham Hotspur International Development coaches. There was $50,000 worth of AIA and Sovereign sports grants to be won simply by participating as well as spot prizes up for grabs. 5 lucky participants were also given the chance to win a trip for two to Sydney, where they participated in a soccer skills session attending by a world famous soccer icon, David Beckham.

You can see what the schools got up to in the HIGHLIGHTS section and we encourage you to continue to share your health and wellness journey with us via the FEEDBACK section.

The New Zealand’s Healthiest Schools Challenge (“Challenge”) is carried out jointly by AIA International Limited, New Zealand branch and Sovereign Services Limited (“AIA/Sovereign”), with assistance from Azion Wellness Limited (“Azion”).
